  • Richmond Circus pinch point

Created by Paul James // 1 thread

The shared use pavement is pinched very tight at this point where pedestrians are crossing the road and cycles are going straight on.

Visibility of pedestrians and bikes from Larkfield Rd is blocked by the building.

Continue cycleway along Richmond Circus south side.
Provide more cycle/pavement width by moving carriageway northwards or reducing to 2 lanes.

  • Lower Mortlake Road side roads

Created by Paul James // 0 threads

All the sideroads between Richmond Circus and Manor Circus are a danger to cyclists on the cycleway.

There is no warning to motorists that there will be crossing cyclists and the building angles make it hard to see if anything is coming.

Turning traffic from the A316 can have an obscured view of the cycleway due to foliage.

    Decrease corner radii.
    Make road hump more pronounced.
Make cycle surface colour continuous across roadway.
    Add markings across roadway.
    Add warning signage.
Move give way lines back to before cycleway or add additional give way lines.

  • Manor Circus

Created by Paul James // 0 threads

West side the cycleway terminates at the Manor Rd zebra crossing.

East side it vanishes 20 meters from the junction at the Lower Richmond Rd zebra crossing.

Path between is not shared use and is very narrow due to excessive road width on roundabout due to dedicated turning lane and large roundabout center.

  • Huntingdon Road - wider cycle lanes needed

    Martin Lucas-Smith // 3 threads

Huntingdon Road currently has rather narrow cycle lanes, which are unnecessarily so since this is quite a wide road.

There is space here to create really high-quality, direct, cycle infrastructure which retains priority at sideroads and which would encourage new people to start cycling.

  • Lamppost in way of cycle path, Bluebell Road, Ashford

Created by Gregory Williams // 1 thread

A lamppost is positioned in the way of a cycle path beside Bluebell Road at its junction with Sheepfold Lane. It is particularly hazardous if cycling along Bluebell Road west-to-east and then transitioning onto the cycle path beside Sheepfold Lane just before the road junction.

Created by kirbyjames // 1 thread

Pupils at The King’s School. Ottery are proposing a new cycleway follow the old railway track starting at Feniton, through Ottery and Tipton St John and finishing at Sidmouth.

    Summary from the Sidmouth Herald:-

"A campaign for a cycleway to link Sidmouth with Ottery St Mary and Feniton will shift up a gear next month with an exhibition to show
    off its potential benefits.

Pupils at The King’s School are spearheading the project with help from teachers and councillors.

It is proposed the cycleway follows the old railway track starting at Feniton, through Ottery and Tipton St John and finishing at Sidmouth.

An open evening at the The King’s School on Thursday, October 18, at 7pm will demonstrate the benefits of such schemes to the local economy and to residents’ health.

Councillor Claire Wright, said the Tarka Trail in North Devon has given a huge boost to tourism there. She hopes volunteers will join a committee which will work towards making the scheme a reality, but funding will be the biggest issue."

  • Wandle path bypass for Earlsfield

Created by Andy Allan // 1 thread

Garratt Lane at Earlsfield station sucks massively for cyclists, and is a jarring interruption to the Wandle Trail (Sustrans route 20). It would be great to extend the riverside path underneath the railway to avoid this dangerous stretch of road.

  • Can't cycle along Hillside Passage

Created by Andy Allan // 1 thread

There's a nice cycle route along Mount Nod Road into Hillside Road that's interrupted by a short section of path marked "No Cycling". Adding a cycle path would remove an (unsigned) detour via Faygate Road.
