  • Transport Restart Group

    Created by Rosamund Humphrey (Admin Officer) // 1 thread

    The government said that it expects Combined Authorities to lead the restart of the transport system following the Covid lockdown. The Transport Restart Group is chaired by the Combined Authority (its leads are James Palmer and Paul Raynes) and brings together the two highways authorities, police and public health colleagues, the two main city councils, a representative bus operator, Network Rail, Highways England, and the Department for Transport. It has met weekly since 1 June.

    The group has three main tasks:

    (a) ensuring the public transport restarts to as near 100% of pre-Covid network as possible;

    (b) ensuring a package of active travel measures is implemented to mitigate potential increases in private car use;

    (c) monitoring data in relation to the impact of Covid – 19 on transport and considering what further measures might be needed to maintain the transport recovery.

  • A142 / Lancaster Way roundabout consultation

    Created by Matthew // 1 thread

    https://consultcambs.uk.engagementhq.com/lancaster-way-consultation

    Capacity improvements are currently underway to the A10/BP roundabout, required as part of the approved Lancaster Way Business Park expansion planning application.

    This is a vital development to support economic growth within East Cambridgeshire and expected to generate 2,500+ jobs, 75% will be from the local area. Cambridgeshire County Council agreed to carry out a feasibility study encompassing the A10, BP and Lancaster Way roundabouts to assess the current congestion issues limiting future growth which was completed in October 2018.

    This study identified that capacity improvements at the Lancaster Way roundabout would also unlock further benefits of the measures now being constructed at the BP roundabout. The County Council has started to look at what improvements could be made to the Lancaster Way roundabout and the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority and East Cambridgeshire District Council have agreed to provide funding.

    The public have the chance to offer comments for consideration on the proposed design.

    This consultation is to share the details with residents and receive feedback. We may share your information with our partners in this consultation (East Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority) and with the council analysis team.

    You do not have to give us any personal information. We will not publish any personal details you do give us, but may publish our response, and include it in public reports, with personal details removed. Personal data will be held securely, in accordance with data protection legislation. We will only store it for 12 months after the consultation results have been analysed and the consultation report published.

    Please view the consultation information prior to completing this survey, online at https://www.cambridgeshire.gov.uk/residents/travel-roads-and-parking/transport-projects/a10-a142-lancaster-way-roundabout(External link)

    All surveys should be completed by the closing date of Friday 18 September 2020.

    Your views on the project are welcomed.

    It's the usual motorist-centric tripe of course, with ridiculous excuses for not building a signalised crossing ("it's rural" - nevermind that Babraham is also rural and they are doing it there).

  • DfT consultation on Major Road Network

    Created by Matthew // 1 thread

    https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/proposals-for-the-creation-of-a-major-road-network

    The latest in the government's insatiable thirst for blowing money on roads (induced demand, what's that?) might have a silver lining as one of the objectives is 'support all road users'. I think we should submit a response. Basic outline: they should apply IAN 195/16 on this proposed Major Road Network.

    Regarding Cambridge, the most immediately affected road would be the A10 north of the A14, and possibly south of Trumpington. The 'Major Road Network' in the vicinity of is the A14, M11, A11, A505 and the A10.

  • Clayponds Avenue Surface

    Created by Space Pootler // 1 thread

    Clayponds Avenue is a crucial cycling link between South Ealing and the Great West Road, but the surface is so full of potholes as to be a risk to ride on. Nearly all group rides make use of the Olive Road/South Ealing Cemetery/Clayponds link, but it remains largely ignored by Hounslow Highways since requests for repairs began to be filed in 2013. As of late 2015, one individual recorded no fewer than 47 separate potholes.

    There are also scars left over from the removal of pedestrian refuge islands and other road furniture.

  • Orchard Park audit

    Created by Klaas Brümann // 2 threads

    Gallagher Estate, master planners of Orchard Park will soon hand over the highways for adoption by the County Council.

    We won't be able to fix this car centric development, but within it there are many pavement cycleways, "cyclists dismount" signs, cul-de-sac signs and others which are wrong or don't apply. There are also issues with dropped kerbs etc.

    I am looking for volunteers to audit Orchard Park, making a list of corrections we require before Gallaghers hands this project over.
