Milton Keynes (MK) is blessed with a substantial structure of shared (pedestrian and cyclist) routes called Redways. When MK was drawn up there was some excellent work done laying out a comprehensive grid, please see google or streetmaps.
However, this infrastructure is now 50 years old, and some of the guiding principles have been forgotten.
MK is one of the fastest growing conurbations in Europe and the road network is starting to creak.
The strategy paper is 52 pages long.

Q5 Cycle Hire. Note MKs scheme has lost a lot of bikes. Cycle share schemes have been shown to move people out of cars and reintroduce/start people cycling. This needs support.
Q7 Redway network upgrade and extension. Infrastructure drives usage
Q7.2 Increase cycle parking around CMK. Security is a major issue in MK.
Q9 Cycle training in businesses, schools and higher education and community
Q27.Open comment. The original redways had underpasses and bridges such that there was no need to cross a road, providing a safe,fast and connected network. Recent developments have not included these provisions and cyclist have to wait for cars, take a chance which discourages usage. For cycling to takeoff it needs to be prioritised over the car, such that it is safe for all, connected and quick. Also the redways do not exist in the city centre, where dedicated pedestrian routes are identified and the cyclist pushed onto the roads. This discourages commuting use, especially to the station. A dedicated (cyclist only) route especially from campbell park to the station needs to be developed.

What is the Draft Transport Strategy for East Cambridgeshire?
We have drafted a transport strategy to tackle the current and future transport pressures in and around the district, and to help support growth in East Cambridgeshire. The purpose of this strategy is to:
Provide a detailed policy framework and Action Plan of potential transport improvements for the area, addressing current problems and consistent with the policies of the third Cambridgeshire Local Transport Plan 2011-2031 (LTP3).
Support the East Cambridgeshire Local Plan, and take account of the committed and predicted levels of growth, detailing the transport infrastructure and services necessary to deliver this growth.
The strategy contains details of the schemes proposed in the short and medium term as well as the longer term schemes as proposed in the Long Term Transport Strategy.
We want the views of anyone who lives, works, visits or travels through East Cambridgeshire in order to improve this draft transport strategy. Let us know your views on the strategy objectives, policies and the action plan of proposed transport improvements for the area by answering the questionnaire before the 8th April 2016.

The Nottinghamshire Local Transport Plan (LTP) sets out the County Council’s overarching transport strategy for Nottinghamshire and is supported by a number of more in depth strategies detailing how the LTP will be delivered. Increasing financial constraint/reducing budgets have also brought forward an essential need for the County Council to develop clear strategies for its future transport priorities and investment.
A Cycling Strategy for Nottinghamshire has therefore been developed to complement the LTP in the delivery of local and national objectives; particularly those relating to improving access to jobs and reducing the impacts of congestion on the economy. The draft Strategy sets out how the County Council will work with partners, stakeholders and the public to increase cycling levels and improve cycling safety in Nottinghamshire.

Project Orange is an attempt develop our general strategy during the year 2013.
1) Should Cambridge Go Dutch (or Copenhagenize)

5) Priority over sideroads as part of a Dutch-style approach
5) Development of Visualisation Tools for major projects (Chisholm Trail, Newnham to Newmarket Rd, Mitcham's Corner)
