  • Threat of barrier on existing Highworth Ave cycle route

Created by Matthew // 1 thread

I've gotten wind that some residents are pushing for an exclusionary barrier of some kind to block the existing filter at Highworth Ave / Leys Road. Right now it's a couple of nice planters with a reasonably-sized gap that any kind of cycle can ride through. I don't know exactly what they're planning but they want to stop motorbikes, which can only mean something really obnoxious for everyone else.

While I sympathise about the motorbike problem (I see them too, being a nearby resident and frequent user of this cut-through), I am very worried about this kneejerk reaction that will harm legitimate users of the filter. A form of collective punishment for the actions of a few, basically.

I would like to alert people who may be worried about yet-another obstacle on a cycle route, or even possibly losing a nice quiet cycle route that lets us avoid nasty parts of Arbury and Milton Roads.

  • Junction Road rat-run should be filtered cell

Created by Space Pootler // 1 thread

Junction Road is used as a rat-run by motorists between the A4 and Little Ealing Lane/Northfields Avenue. The problem is especially acute around Whitestile Road and Enfield Road (which is too narrow to accomodate this traffic).

This traffic should rightly be sent onto the B roads surrounding the area, and the neighbourhood preserved for the access of its residents.

  • Triangle Road rat running

    Created by Tom2 // 1 thread

Since the changes to Mare St at Westgate St some vehicles travel past the children's centre in Triangle Road, at excessive speeds, to avoid the traffic light at Mare St . Can Hackney Council add a restriction in Triangle Road.

  • Conflict created by left filter from Raneleigh Road into Princes Street

Created by Shaun McDonald // 1 thread

The left turn filter from Raneleigh Road into Princes Street outside Ipswich station creates a conflict between cyclists in the cycle lane and advance stop line and motor vehicles turning left when the left turn filter appears.

As a cyclist you come up the cycle lane and sit in the advance stop box, however it's too short and also awkward to sit in front of the right lane for traffic going straight ahead, thus cyclists sit in front of the left lane. This annoys drivers as the cyclists still have a red light whilst the cars behind them have a green thus holding them up, at which point the car drivers then drive around you.

  • West bound cycle filter too narrow for wide bikes

Created by Shaun McDonald // 2 threads

When cycling west bound from Rope Walk into Eagle Street through the cycle filter (where cyclists are unaffected by the traffic signals except giving way to the traffic from the left), the width between the bollard and the kerb and the sudden left movement required make the travel through the junction more difficult especially when using bikes with trailers, cargo bikes. Ordinary bike users also find it difficult to use and will avoid it instead.

  • Bermondsey St rat run

Created by Gerhard Weiss // 0 threads

Bermondsey St is being used as a rat run not just along its length but also across at Tanner St. Through traffic should use the A100, Tooley St or Borough High St.
Could be a good mode filter project

  • Cable street cell 1

Created by Gerhard Weiss // 0 threads

Superhighway 3 on cable street is also a rat run. Cell 1 marks the area bounded by 'logical' cell boundary streets. There should be no through motor traffic within this area
