Camden are consulting on a proposed planning framework for the northwest part of Kentish Town. This essentially covers the Murphy’s and Regis Road sites and is designed to set parameters for when/if the sites are redeveloped. The consultation is at goo.gl/6GaJEd and is open for individual responses until December 7th.
We will be putting in a response from Camden Cyclists so please use one of the threads to add your comments by the end of November. We are particularly focussed on cycle and pedestrian permeability.

Camden have started consultation on a planning framework for Kentish Town, with specific focus on the Regis Road and Murphy's sites. We'll need to respond, though a cynical view might be that it is a waste of time, given that a similar exercise for the Morrison's site in Chalk Farm had no perceptible effect on the final grant of planning permission. There is a very short consultation period.

From Camden Council's website:
"Significant redevelopment may take place in the Camden Goods Yard area in the coming years. If this occurs, the London Borough of Camden wants to ensure a strategic and coordinated approach is taken to deliver the best outcomes for our communities. This framework sets out the Council’s vision and key objectives for this part of the borough."

Both bridges have poor sightlines and problem parking near access to bridges esp for cyclists . Wellesley/Marlborough cycle lane is narrow and adjacent footpath has high ped traffic to school etc . Often pedestrains in cycle lane
Responses to be in by the 3rd of March

Hackney Council are consulting on a series of proposed improvements to this area. The key features of this proposal are:
- Raised pedestrian crossings (one new)
- Widened pavements
- Raised table entry treatments
- Four new cycle contraflows on existing one-way streets.
The council is also considering area-wide modal filtering, and canvassing views, subject to further consultation later.

Junction Road is used as a rat-run by motorists between the A4 and Little Ealing Lane/Northfields Avenue. The problem is especially acute around Whitestile Road and Enfield Road (which is too narrow to accomodate this traffic).
This traffic should rightly be sent onto the B roads surrounding the area, and the neighbourhood preserved for the access of its residents.

If the level crossings either side of farncombe station were cycle/ ped only, with bollards in nightingale rd at the farncombe street end, and on frith hill, farncombe would be divided into 3 areas for cars, each of which would need to come out onto distributor roads. Further, if the New pond rd end of summers Rd as far as Brioadwater school were made one way southwest bound, any traffic trying to bypass the a3100/ Meadrow would be unable to.

This short section of scruffy footpath completes this proposed cycle route segment http://www.pushbikes.org.uk/location/bournville-1 and links it with the Merritts Brook Greenway. Since the path is in such a poor state I would suggest updating it to create a cycle path and footpath, the two being made flush with the existing carriageway.

This footpath needs to be improved and made shared use for this proposed cycle route segment: http://www.pushbikes.org.uk/location/northfield-3

There is scope here for creating a short cycle path to complete this proposed route segment: http://www.pushbikes.org.uk/location/bournville-3

This puffin crossing is a barrier to creating a cycle route: http://www.pushbikes.org.uk/location/bournville-1. I've attached a photo, because despite it being a random Google Street View shot it shows there is a demand for cycling.

The footpaths on the Davids Estate provide permeability for pedestrians, but not cyclists, yet one of them would allow the creation of a quiet route for cyclists: http://www.pushbikes.org.uk/location/bournville-1 (the other just links that route with The Davids). Making the paths shared use to lift a barrier to cycling.

Cycling is banned on Victoria Common, but it represents the sort of environment in which people love to cycle. In the short term the paths should be made shared use, but longer term it would be sensible to create cycle paths through the park.

If this path was made shared use, cyclists could use it to connect the official cycle route on Heath Road South with Northfield town centre via Chatham Road and Rochester Road (there is a toucan crossing that takes cyclists across Church Road).

There should be a walking/cycling connection between Lidl and the housing behind it (Craigmillar Castle Avenue area).
People living there are forced a long detour down to Niddrie Mains Rd then up to Lidl again. This encourages car use and discourages walking.
Niddrie Mains Rd is terrible for cycling so this connection would also benefit people cycling from Greendykes or Inch (through the park).

This issue is about our priorities for two way cycling in a pair of one way streets, the first north and the second south of the canal at Camden Lock:
- Hawley Road runs one way eastbound between Chalk farm Road and Kentish Town road.
- Hawley Crescent runs one way westbound from Kentish Town Road to Camden High Street
Both of these roads are on our list of permeability issues but we are being asked to say which we would like to see tackled first.

We have of course been campaigning for a cycle and pedestrian connection enabling more direct movement between Kentish Town Road and Grafton Road for years. At one time a semi-official route via Arctic Street was actually established, but the landowner eventually vetoed it for various reasons.
How can we revive the campaign for this?

Would it be possible to make the full length of Marchmont Street two way for cycling? The northern half doesn't seem to be now.

A northern stretch of Bristol's waymarked "Concorde Way" runs along a quiet residential street, Wordsworth Road. On the newest housing development as Bristol gives way to South Gloucestershire there is a barrier between the end of Wordsworth Road and the start of Eighth Avenue to prevent motor vehicles passing through. There is a raised curb, offset railings and large grey concrete bollards and only a narrow passage either side of one bollard for cyclists to ride through. Tricycles, cargo bikes, or trailers might be to be lifted over the raised curb. In dusk or darkness neither the bollards nor the curb are easy to see. There is a light on the traffic sign offering some help, but a less intimidating arrangements or reflective/high-visibility surfaces could be considered.

The UHCW NHS Trust has applied for planning permission for a new access roads and multistorey car parks, under a plan drawn up by leading global engineering firm Arup.
Please ask them to go back to the drawing board and come up with something better.
The planning application details are here:
http://planning.coventry.gov.uk/portal/servlets/ApplicationSearchServlet?PKID=744613
Please state that you OBJECT to the current proposals as they don't give any consideration to encouraging more cycling (or walking).
The trust are open to discussion via twitter (@NHSUHCW), but the council need to be asked to bring this matter to the committee (currently it is just classed as deferred, which means officers decide themselves).
